Biography
Director – MSC, BSc (Hons), Dip
Leena Gauba is a Dubai based business woman who has been awarded the Woman Leadership Award in Healthcare. She has successfully run companies for more than thirteen years and her business Imperial Healthcare has also been awarded on numerous occasions as Best Eye care Hospital in the Middle East.
Born and raised in London, she studied at an Elite school for girls. Her father being a Physician in the Royal Air force and mother a family doctor meant she had strong role models as discipline and hard work were instilled from a young age.
Coming from a medical background inspired her to study in the field of medicine and so she went on to study a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology with Management at King’s College in London. In her second year she was selected for an Internship with GlaxoSmithkline, the largest Pharmaceutical company in the world. She was sent to Pennsylvania, USA to work in their headquarters and carried out extensive research in the field of cardiovascular pharmacology. During her time, she carried out pioneering research and received much acclaim for her work including a peer review publication. She returned back to university for her final year and graduated with honors.
During her final year she also completed a Diploma with Distinction in Journalism from the London School of Journalism. Between her degrees she interned at Channel 5 and was part of the UK crew that covered the 9/11 bombings.
Her love of learning continued as she then went on to continue her higher education at King’s College and completed a Masters (MSc) in International Management in one year.

- While studying her MSc, she was nominated to be in a beauty pageant, Miss India UK and went onto become a Miss India UK finalist. She got to showcase her dance skills, which was her love as a child and had always been in shows throughout school and university. Dance still remains a huge passion in her life till today.
- Shortly after her graduation and completing the beauty pageant she met her husband, Dr Vinod Gauba.
- In her first few years of her career she worked in marketing, sales, recruitment and managed to always excel and hit targets quickly. She decided she wanted to be her own boss so at a young age and decided to set up her own business.
With her entrepreneurial spirit she started her own company that raised money for charity. She created a concept of placing snack vending boxes in companies so people had healthy edibles during work. From the sales a generous proportion of the profits received from the product sales were donated to selected children’s charities. The business started on a small scale but grew quickly and was successfully franchised to over twenty franchisees across the U.K raising thousands of pounds for Barnardo’s and Save the Children.
Whilst running the franchise network, she studied and completed a diploma in Image consulting and also worked briefly as a freelance style consultant while running her business.

- During these years she and her husband travelled the world extensively and visited many exotic and far flung locations from remote pacific Islands to cosmopolitan cities exposing her to rich and diverse cultures which she counts as an education.
- In 2008 Leena and her husband moved to Dubai who was raised in the UAE.
- Both being entrepreneurs decided they wanted to open a facility specialising in eye care hence Imperial was born. Their vision was to open a centre that delivers the highest standard of eye care and treatments with no compromise in quality.
Dr Vinod Gauba is the Medical Director and Leena Gauba is the Director. Imperial Healthcare started out as a small business and through sheer hard work and determination has grown to gain a strong reputation through the market for leading healthcare with strong clinical results and outcomes. The facility provides a full spectrum of eye care including advanced treatment for cataracts, non-surgical vision correction (supralasik), oculofacial plastics and paediatrics. The facility treats patients from over 45 countries and patient list routinely includes royalty, celebrities and politicians. Leena is proud of the clientele treated at Imperial and is responsible for the full operations of the facility.
Imperial Healthcare received an award for Best eye clinic in 2015 at the Asian Leadership awards and Best eye care Award in 2016.
She is also heavily involved in supporting Dr Vinod Gauba’s clinical work, who has become of the leading ophthalmologists in the world. He is also an International lecturer, carries out research projects and involved in philanthropic causes. He recently received the prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Award at House of Lords in London. In previous years he has won Surgeon of the year and Clinician of the year at Arab Health Awards.
She has two children Dilan, 7 and Devina, 6. Being an entrepreneur and balancing family life has been a positive challenge and she has always made sure her kids are her priority. She even made a crèche at the hospital so she could have her children with her while she worked.
Leena has also become a Health Journalist and regularly contributes articles on Women’s Health topics to Global Health and Travel magazine. Dance is her love and passion, she teaches children and adults on a weekly basis. She also participates in shows and performances. Leena Gauba is also in the process of growing Imperial Healthcare and has various upcoming new business ventures in the Middle East health sector.
