About This Treatment
Management depends on the type, cause and degree of strabismus as well as the age of the patient. Non-surgical options include spectacles with prismatic correction, occlusion therapy and botulinum toxin injection into the extraocular muscles (particularly for acute onset adult cases and as a diagnostic tool).
Surgical realignment of the extraocular muscles is highly effective for most forms of strabismus, restoring eye alignment and binocular vision in a high proportion of patients. Adjustable sutures allow fine-tuning of alignment in adult surgery. Our surgeons have extensive experience across the full range of strabismus types.
